The First Energy owned Davis – Besse Nuclear Power Plant may close following the energy giant’s decision to exit the nuclear industry. This may be a bad idea for the residents, as most towns with nuclear power plants offer many high paying jobs, and a lot of money. In the case of Davis – Besse, money generated from this station paid for an auditorium and a new swimming pool for the high school. The residents of Carlton lost 70% of their budget when the nearby nuclear power plant shut down. Thanks to the planned closure, plans for a new fire truck have been put on hold, and some 600 people who all work at the plant will lose their job. The only thing that the residents can hope for is that the government makes the nuclear business a much more profitable venture, a very possible thing under the Trump Administration.
